We want to develop our outdoor area to share the extensive natural features, incorporating many different habitats, surrounding our school with the local community. We want to involve our school community in planning and building a bird hide with one side looking out onto our wild area and one side looking out onto the canal which runs behind our school. We would like to obtain a narrow boat to be moored at the side of the canal to be used to enhance learning for the whole community. At the same time, we will develop the area alongside the canal in order to provide a safe boarding area, as well as an area for fishing and pond dipping and including the provision of new habitats. These facilities would be used by local community groups such as the guides and scouts as well as by the children in our school and would also offer "eco days" to other local groups. We feel this facility would benefit those in the local community who would like to become more involved with local wildlife.
We envisage that we will be successful in various bids we have made, but are relying on obtaining a narrow boat at a nominal fee. British Waterways may be able to help with this, but this depends on availability and the timescale may be very long. We would be very grateful if anyone knows of a narrow boat in need of a good home! I am sure we will obtain funding to refurbish it. This is the area we wish to re-furbish.We hope our narrow boat will be moored here. We will provide mooring, a fishing area and new habitats for water voles etc.

This is the edge of our school field with a gate leading to the canal.

This is our wild area with numerous habitats. This runs along the edge of the canal. We intend to extend it as part of our canal project and also build a bird hide with the children overlooking the wild area and the canal.
